As James Clear said in his book Atomic Habits: "We don't rise to the level of our goals, but fall to the level of our systems."
I can say with certainty I am experiencing this. Routines that are interrupted are becoming yellow and red status indicators for the week as goals. Case in point -- my prayer -- I had built a prayer closet up next to my son's room, who had been away. He is now back with us and I don't want to wake him up with this routine early in the morning. So this simple change has led to inconsistencies as to when I read and journal and pray. Not rocket science to be sure, but underscores (to me) the importance of routines you can count on.
An accountability partner is a great way to ensure something gets done. In sales, a healthy pipeline is fundamental to ongoing success --- and if a sales rep or BD avoided prospecting, then an accountability partner to check in at the end of day to ensure it got done is critical. This is me and running. I really need an accountability partner here! Physical goals for the week met -- heavy lifting, ~14 miles logged and no sugar w/ some greens.
On the Spiritual front I have been listening through Galatians and Ephesians. I keep coming back to Galatians though. There is something here that keeps bringing me back. It is the great book to remind us our rightness with God is not made by our actions or efforts. Certainly not in keeping the Old Testament Law. Our righteousness is by our faith in the personhood of Jesus Christ, and we are made new creatures with a new heart. However, we still have the old impulses and thus have a choice -- we can wallow in the trash that feeds those impulses or we can set our minds on things above. This is the battle for all Christians -- to be Spirit led vs. self led.
Lunch with Brother Ray Puckett this week was great. Ray is a former Captain in the Sheriff's department and a godly man. It was really nice to break some bread with him and talk about our successes and regrets. We also had Kaidon over again -- a young man who left his family in Tennessee due to a difficult situation and is spending time with his grandmother in NC. He is a quiet kid constantly looking at his phone (as a measure of hiding from social scenarios). But he seems to like hanging with us and we are glad to have him. But -- in truth -- I am so far from loving others the way I need to -- it is scary. And it usually boils back down to my selfishness and wanting to have my way vs. others. Lord help me here.
Triv was a bust, but fun. Glad the couple won that did -- they had been coming for a while, so it was nice to see. AI models did not further advance. Busy planning the trip to Disney/Universal Studios and visiting my mom in Tallahassee. Did finish the Heinlein book -- which was fun -- and working through an unabridged audio version of KSR Red Mars. 24 hrs worth of audio. That sucker is on 1.5x speed. Got a game of Marvel Champions in as well as a 1E D&D White Plume Mountain game with some of the guys on Fantasy Grounds. Last -- really cleaned up an ugly room of ours with help from IKEA. Probably 80% done but not more than that.

✅ Enjoyed week 6 reflection — especially how you applied forward momentum to consistency vs. intensity. That also rang true for me, but not until I took the Archetype6 quiz and learned I'm a Synthesizer. I kept jumping between planning and executing, thinking I had to have everything just right before plowing ahead.
Three things that caused me to shape up:
I started closing loops instead of opening them up again with "just one more tweak."
Weekly check-ins helped me course-correct without needing to begin anew.
Watching other Synthesizers move forward even when they overthought gave me useful permission to act.
What do you do to avoid letting weekly reviews morph into full audits? Trying to make mine concise and…
