Why Reset?

"... Let me count the ways." Was that Lovelace? Or the two other Cavalier Poets I once read about? Mental note to check for trivia.
1) I can afford to do so, given I have been saving a long time. And then Nvidia had a 10:1 stock split.
2) The things that mattered more were getting less attention than work. Sure, if I was a ninja at calendar management and had the discipline of Jocko, I could fit it all in with time to spare. But, I find being a hostage to the calendar by the hour to be very depressing.
3) And then there was the travel. No one who travels on commercial airlines consistently would desire to continue that madness if it can be helped. La Guardia Starbucks at 9p on a Thursday night is just not a happening place.
4) Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1Cor10:31. I found myself to be increasingly curt, short and impatient with colleagues in getting things done. My joy was evaporating and that was not bringing glory to anyone ...
5) Outside of work, I have a lot of eclectic interests. These interests needed to be fed for my sanity, so now I have some time to do so.
6) My sons are at some critical points in their manhood journey -- being at another business review somewhere in America was not great for those unforeseen moments when Dad was needed. So very glad to be around and present.
7) I grew up surfing in Northern Florida starting in the 5th grade. All I wanted to do was be a lifeguard on the beach and go surfing. Wiser minds prevailed for college but that surf DNA never goes away. Again, a calling away from work. This time more to pour into others and be a better human being & citizen.
8) - 10) Did I mention I could afford to step away?
So, the 6 month reset is about taking care of the above. Will I gain greater clarity on work and execution of sales strategies when I go back to work somewhere? Will I go back at all? Time will tell, but for now, my focus is on achieving these personal goals. And I appreciate any advice or help in doing so. Not too proud to take input!
